Seems Riya and Ronnie were humming the same tune in their life. Moments became seconds, seconds to minutes and minutes to hour. They were loosing track of time and things around them.

This makes me remember a song from Kal ho na ho

Riya and Ronnie started meeting regularly and they didn't require any excuses now. Ronnie's friends used to call and tease him. Instead of calling him they started calling Riya and checking if he was back for dinner. Ronnie was defensive of all this, since he didn't wanted Riya to take this otherwise and mess with their relation.

On the other hand Riya was finding him only as a good friend and was not romantically inclined towards him. Ronnie was an obvious reason for it, a condition laid by Ronnie long time back was holding her back. It was some couple of months back when Riya and Ronnie started talking as friends. Riya was going back home for vacations and she texted Ronnie 'take care buddy, will miss you a lot'. Bang was a call back from Ronnie, in which he explained the philosophy he believed in 'Riya, I just got your message, what is this miss you and all? Am I your Romantic interest to whom you are writing Miss you?’ Riya was perplexed, 'See Ronnie I have no romantic interest in you, its just a write miss you to my good friends and if you find it disturbing, I promise never to send a message like this’. Ronnie grinned 'Riya its not disturbing but I feel committed girls never make a very good friend with a guy, since her boyfriend would slowly start getting jealous of her male friends and slowly she will drift apart from her friends or later she may develop feelings for her male friends or vice versa. I just don't want anything like this to happen with us, and i share such a nice friendship with you and never wanna screw it'

So it was a mutual agreement between Ronnie and Riya never to step outside the boundaries of Friendship. But sometimes life doesn't tread the same path you decided for yourself. It takes it own course of trail and ends up where you would have never thought.

The Companionship

They were relishing each moment spent together, though they were physical distances but slowly their worlds were merging together. Riya was going through a rough patch of break-up and Ronnie was her anchor for support. Riya was finding a true companion in Ronnie.

"Hey Ronnie", Riya replied and a smile came to her face as soon as she saw Ronnie's call.' How about a Movie in the evening?' ,though he already knew the answer still he checked. 'Of course, see you in the college', Riya rushed to get ready.

They started around 4pm for the movie, 'Shootout at Lokhandwala'. 'Hey Riya, would you mind if we go somewhere else rather than going for the movie?', Ronnie was little uncertain about the answer he was about to receive .'I am perfectly fine Ronnie but where shall we go?', by the time Riya and Ronnie could decide where to go they were already on the road to Mussoorie.

They stopped at the famous Shiv Temple on the way to Mussoorie. As they were having tea which was the prasad, A sweet voice said 'Billi', and Riya and Ronnie saw a very cute and small kid of almost 2.5 yrs pointing her finger towards Riya and giggling 'Billi Billi'. Ronnie got the chance to christen his sweet Friend Riya and started calling her 'Billi'. Riya couldn’t stop smiling and so did Ronnie.

After an hour they headed back to town and Ronnie showing Riya his stunts on bike. And Riya couldn't stop giggling at his antics. In some time they reached Tapkeshwar temple. Both were not in a mood of worshipping, but this was a place none of them had visited before. And it was more of each other's company they were looking for rather than the places they were visiting. Riya and Ronnie were discovering each other with every single moment they were spending together.

It was almost 7pm in the evening when Riya decided to take Ronnie out for dinner and they went for a fancy dine together. Each second passing was watching what they couldn't see. The Togetherness and the bond they shared.

The ride back to home was a cherished moment for Riya, but for her not being the fancy types, when Ronnie was about to drop her back she accidently said 'Wish I could have a cup of tea'. And Ronnie being himself suddenly took a U-turn, by the time Riya could have understood, they were at a local Chai Wala stall at ISBT, Dehradun. And Riya was watching Ronnie in awe.

It was 10pm and the night did not seem to end for them. Ronnie dropped Riya back and went back to his room where lot of questions and smiles awaited for him. All his roommates were waiting for him and each had the same question?

I'm not in love...

Last meeting of Riya and Ronnie was just the tip of the iceberg, they started meeting quite often.

“Hey Riya”, Ronnie waved.. ”what are you doing here...??”, she was standing at a local shop for her project work.”Nothing much..the semester exams are near, just getting my project report finished. Tomorrow I have to submit my report.”, Riya replied. But suddenly the shopkeeper told Riya her project report could not be completed since he was overloaded with other students report.”Now what do I do??”, Riya got worried..tomorrow was the last day to submit the report.”I am going to the other side of the town for finishing the report, see you Ronnie”, Riya moved to catch an auto.”Riya can

I come too with you, just give me 5 mins and I’ll get ready and join you. Seems your going alone, I can give you company too.” Ronnie rushed to his room to get dressed.

Riya and Ronnie went to the town, chatting and laughing. Both had a lovely time together. Riya told a lot about her to Ronnie that day. It was one of the days when they had ample of time up their sleeve. Ice creams, shakes were on the menu that night for them. Around 11pm Ronnie dropped Riya to the hostel like a perfect gentleman. The sizzle could be heard that day.

Suddenly the call frequency got high..higher..and highest...Riya and Ronnie were on call almost all the time, the nights were filled with words, memories, laughter and emotions. They were discovering each other. Ronnie being the introvert one, was actually opening up to someone. But to his dismay someone was watching him transform....yes roommates..they were watching him and were quite sure he was falling in love, but Ronnie was in a state of denial. He kept repeating the same Riya is my good Friend.

The beginning of the Journey......

Ronnie was guilty as he usually kept his words....'what a a** i am... promised and slept..like a lazy bum'.

Somehow he wanted to set the things right.

Next day in college, he saw Riya.."Riya, can i speak to you for a moment.?" "What is it Ronnie, if you are here for an apology i am not interested.I told you i am not angry. But Riya listen to me once...." Ronnie pleaded."Lets go for a movie,please..".And to Ronnie's surprise Riya agreed. "But the movie is on me",Riya stared at him.

Something above was conspiring to bring them together,evening was perfect, Ronnie came to pick her and both went together to the movie theather.Riya was the host of the evening though Ronnie planned for it.It was going to be Riya's treat. Movie was great and it even bought them a step up on the staircase of the freindship they were standing at. But  this was happening at some cost....emotions..

The night was drawing, both moved to a grab a quick bite and headed towards McDonalds, the burger joint Riya liked a lot. Conversations and laughter were growing endless and both were getting fond of each other quickly.

Ronnie felt it was getting late and he thought of borrowing his friend's bike living nearby.They decided to take  a walk ,not hand in hands though, but the fondness of each others company was entwining at a rapid rate. It took few minutes for them to reach the place but the silence of the time, the moon in the clouds, conversations and the giggling stayed with the time..and may be for quite a long time.

Ronnie got the bike asked Riya to hop on so that he could take her back home safely.Riya was smiling....as she saw a new Ronnie today, someone she could trust and feel safe with.She never expected him to be so caring...and so concerned about her..Somehow the same Ronnie who made her so upset a while ago..was making her smile and that too without a reason.

Their day came to an end....but iwas thinking what are the ingredients of a perfect date are...a romantic movie,hot popcorn,someone sitting next to you,a beautiful smile,a munch, a walk on an empty lane and on top of it a long drive under the moon.

Wasn't everything there for them..preplaned, who did it? Riya or Ronnie or....

Just the realisation was left.....may be few things realised with due course of time makes a ever longing effect.....

Without friendship first, there is no true love...

“She ditched me… @#*##*@*@*”, Ronnie was shouting on top of the voice. This time he goofed up again. “Damn” he told,” these buggers always mess up with my life. I told you if they came to know this only will happen”. It’s ok Ronnie, she was not the last girl on the earth,Riya was telling him. “I will not leave them, they went and told her that there is this guy crazy about you and now that girl doesn’t even looks at me, Riya all your effort down the drain”

Riya and Ronnie’s bonding was gaining speed. All the classmates of Ronnie were noticing Ronnie but Riya and Ronnie were lost in their own dreamland of friendship. The major point of attraction was Ronnie and Riya were from totally different streams and there was none other them in the college from their streams interacting with each other. So they were in short talk of the town. They kept on meeting every 15 days, no calls but it seemed there was something that awaited.

2:00pm

Riya was in her room chatting with friends, her cell phone ringed “Hello Hi Ronnie..How come you called at this time some work?” “nah nothing was getting bored so thought of bugging you” smirked Ronnie. "So stop bugging me and find some time pass for yourself go and watch some movie" frowned Riya. “Or shall we go together?” “Ok, fine I’ll pick you up @6 will call you before coming. C ya “.

Riya looked at her watch 6pm “where is this guy?” She was already ready for going and this guy was nowhere to be seen. She waited …he didn’t come.

9:00pm

"Hello Riya..I am sorry i am very sorry..i felt asleep..I am very sorry..I promise i wil make it up..i wil take you out for a movie..Promise..." "Listen Ronnie..No need to say sorry..It's ok.." Riya replied coldly.".No its not ok Riya..you must have been waiting"argued Ronnie."Waiting and me..please forget it..i was not waiting..So chill and forget about it.. C ya tom @ college."

Yes this is Ronnie missed his first date with Riya..but it seems destiny had something else in its mind for these two..

Back with Ronnie and Riya

Ronnie and Riya came to know each other of course though Fraud but there was some chemistry between which kept them crossing their ways again and again. In the college there was several times when Ronnie and Riya met but they just passed with a smile.

Ronnie didn’t wanted to cross his ways with her..may coz she was a tomboy at heart. But still what we call destiny makes way and they had to become best of the friends. God made a way, books yes books the best way in the college. Ronnie wanted few books from the library which was not available in his course library, unwillingly he went to Riya to ask her for a favor, get few books issued for him.

And from here books became the catalyst for them. Every 15 days Ronnie had to meet Riya willingly or unwillingly to renew the books for himself. They started speaking to each other Ronnie never went personal with Riya just normal Hi’s and Bye’s were enough for him. But again Ronnie needed Riya...he just couldn’t think of someone else... ? yes Ronnie was in love... no no not with Riya, but with a girl in his course. And he wanted Riya’s help for it.

He called up Riya one day asking her out and meeting him at @coffee. Riya came to meet him and he told his feelings to her and asked her to help him out. She agreed and told him she will try to speak to that girl for him. But Ronnie was too excited to wait. He did a blooper in his excitement. Ronnie had a booze party next day with his few friends and @2 he called up Riya ?. Riya was busy reading ‘da vinci code’ (bookworm) ,she got a shock when she saw Ronnie’s name on display on her mobile screen@2. “Ronnie never calls me this late must me something urgent” mumbled Riya. ‘Hello Ronnie was sup?’ said Riya, ‘So you did nothing for me, 2 days already over and you did nothing for me I see now what sort of a friend you are. ‘screamed Ronnie from the other side. ‘See Yaar….’ Riya tried to speak only to be cut short by Ronnie’s reply “Nothing Yaar my name is Ronnie pay some respect ” Riya could not stop giggling on the other side, Ronnie drunk and furnishing such lovely statements. “Ok Ok Ronnie I am very sorry I will defiantly speak to that gal tomorrow and call you up. Till then take care good night”.

“Good night”, Ronnie’s voice fading on the other end. Riya couldn’t help smiling on this incident.

Ronnie was not to be seen for few days in the college, Riya didn’t mind his absence though. A week later Ronnie and Riya crossed their way while coming back from the college “hey Ronnie” Riya waved. Hey, Ronnie smiled back.

Jab They Met.....

Today Riya and Ronnie met for the first time…..
2005, August....
She was sitting chatting with her Gang ,awarded as the most notorious batch of all time in the history of the college…and they all sat happily chatting away in the canteen and having sips of 'Adrak wali chai' or as you guys call..Ginger tea...cups after cups...endless talks and endless beverages…for them….that was life..for them friends..Studies..parties..
The canteenwalah was more than happy with these kids...his business was soaring day by day...just because of them...
And here comes Ronnie with his Friend…..'Fraud'…..
Ronnie is finding the hustle bustle of the college quite exciting...And Fraud he was his old school friend…and studying in this college..So he is just roaming with Ronnie and making him acquainted in the college….
Ronnie wanted some tea….
They enter the canteen where Riya is also sitting with her gang…Ronnie gets 2 cups of coffee. .he doesn’t likes tea much…and starts watching the ambience around him..Fraud suddenly starts off....Hey man…this college is rocking and i really hope you settle down soon..And tell you what there is saying in this college...”you have to make a girlfriend in this college”...this is the most in…. thing…...So Fraud at your Service...tell me the girl you find most attractive and i will try to convince her to say YES to you...This is a guys promise...
Ronnie was amazed by his comment but he knew Fraud and his blabbering habit...he told oohh..hhhhh yes..why not...i like......hummmmm....hummmmm....and he looked around...That girl...Sitting there...in blue..i like her...i want her to be my Girlfriend...
Fraud..looked up to her...and he turned pale..he started off.. no.. no.. no.. no.. man not that girl..someone else..please....
Ronnie was adamant…you only said…now i want only that girl to be my girlfriend...if you can't do it…..just stop boasting….go off..
Fraud's face was getting paler and paler...Suddenly Ronnie realized...and looked at fraud's face…'Shit..man..Don't tell me............. She is your.....and...i am.........ohh.. god...Shit …Shit...man i am so sorry.....I was just kidding...don't take it in other way..i didn't know...

'Hi fraud'...suddenly Riya was standing next to their Table...Smiling and looking as amazing as ever...
Yes My dear friends...Riya was Fraud's Girlfriend....
And in that moment Riya came into Ronnie's life...and they met for the first time...

Meet...Riya and Roni....

Let me introduce you to a girl..hummmm...lets call her Riya(I think you must have seen this gal around you many times but may have failed to recognise her...So after reading this watch out for her and keep your eyes open..) And a cute chap..say....Romi..(loaded with tons of Attitude... donno why..but by the end when you know him..he is a gem of a person..one to be treasured forever..)
You all must be thinking who are they..and why the hell she is telling us about them...but to tell you guys very frankly i also meet them very recently to be very precise..15th October 2009..The day when everything changed.....for them...

But let me tell you something if you guys expecting any happy ending to my post...please stop reading now..coz...not ever story finds it's destiny..

First let us go and meet Riya:

Aaah..she is busy.planning with an outing with her friends..yes she is in college too..and like all others..she is hep and happening..But dare not consider as hot and sexy..(as you all have might even started to think..).She is smart..fun..cute...and full fo energy and life..Yes exactly like the girls you are friends with..But a note about her she is fun to be with...always loaded with energy..making plans..going places..making friends..'Aur wo to jaan hai apne group ki'..aisa sab kehte hain..

And the day..they met..yes Riya and Roni..some chemical locha happened between them...they clicked together.....fighting..chatting..partying..they didn't even know when they became best of friends..

FRIENDS FOREVER...even they thought the same..but life is quite unpredictible right..
